1) Tempe Town Lake    
Wanna cool down  and escape the heat? Tempe Town lake is the perfect place. This artificial lake is kept busy by locals and tourists alike. For families there are many quiet parks and green spaces around the lake for a perfect picnic and other recreational opportunities like fishing and swimming. It’s a beautiful place for renting a boat, canoe or paddle-boat.
 
 
3) The Phoenix Zoo    
A perfect place family recreation. Spread over 125 acres, is a home to over 1,300 exotic species including lions, giraffes, baboons and meerkats. Explore the verdant labyrinth of the Forest of Uco, take a hike along the African Trail, and enjoy a tractor ride at the Harmony Farm. In addition, the interactive programs on offer are both educational and entertaining.
 
 
4) Butterfly Wonderland    
Butterfly Wonderland is a beautiful green oasis in the Arizonian desert. This 10,000 square-foot (929 square-meter) indoor butterfly pavilion is the largest of its kind in the country, and a must on itineraries to Scottsdale. It is the Largest indoor buttrfly pavilion with a tropical rainforest atmosphere, it is replete with waterfalls, flora and fauna. Marvel at the magnificent flurry of thousands of exotic butterflies as they gracefully flutter around the atrium. Watch in amazement as they make a surprising landing on your hand.
 
 
5) Tovrea Castle    
This triple-tiered structure on a cactus-covered hilltop was built in the late 1920s out of granite, stucco and concrete. San Francisco businessman Allesio Carraro had a vision of building exclusive, custom homes around this world-class resort hotel. He lost his dream to a local businessman, A.E. Tovrea, when he unwittingly sold the place a few years later to Della Tovrea, A.E.'s wife. The Tovrea family immediately moved into the vacated property, utilizing it as their family home up until Della's death in 1969. The City of Phoenix purchased the property in 1993.
 

6) Enchanted Island 
Located at Encanto Park, this oasis is designed for family and kids. Look out for oohs and aahs from the little ones as you stroll round the island featuring ducks and swans. Enjoy happy rides on the train or carousel guaranteeing a fun-filled adventure. Prices are reasonable and all-day passes are available, depending on height.
 

7) St. Mary's Basilica   
 
Officially called the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is more commonly known as St. Mary's Basilica or simply St. Mary's. Located in downtown Phoenix, the splendid architecture is a mix of Mission Revival, Spanish Revival and Roman designs. Moreover it is known for its opulent stained glass, the largest in Arizona, while the religious carvings and statues inside add to its beauty. St. Mary's was elevated to being a minor basilica in 1987 by Pope John Paul II and is the only one of its kind in Phoenix. This striking church conducts daily mass for the faithful and tours of its healing garden and the monument itself for visitors.
 

8) The Phoenix Ale Brewery    
The Phoenix Ale Brewery offers interestingly crafted beer like Watermelon Wheat that gives a fruity kick and the Camelback IPA that is particularly strong. It also hosts various beer-tasting events that lets you experience the various flavors and textures of beer. While here, do not miss out on the brewery tour where one can learn how each process is carefully undertaken to develop the fine quality beers. And if lucky, be the one to taste some of the new inventions that they keep on contriving.
